Abstract
Objectives: To assess the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of arthroscopic intervention in managing chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI). Background: CLAI is a condition that is significantly affecting the quality of life and athletic participation. Methods: This prospective study included 35 patients, aged 20-50 years old (15 males , 20 females) . All of the patients presented with chronic lateral ankle instability, which showed minimal improvement despite three months of conservative treatment. All patients underwent diagnostic arthroscope before repair of chronic lateral collateral ligament injury using modified Broström -Gould repair. Patients were followed up at the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, and 24th weeks after surgery Results: Provocative test, postoperative pain score, range of motion (ROM), and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and Karlsson scores were significantly improved compared to preoperative values at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 24 weeks postoperatively (P
