Abstract
Objectives: To contrast the effects of ultrasound guided lateral Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) with high and low local anesthetic volumes for Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).
Methods: This prospective, randomized, double-blind work was performed on 60 individuals aged from 18 to 60 years old, both sexes, planned for an LC utilizing general anesthesia. Participants had been randomized into two equal groups: Group A lateral QLB with high volume: 30 ml 0.25% bupivacaine for each side and Group B lateral QLB with low volume: 15 ml 0.25% bupivacaine for each side.
Results: Visual analogue scale was significantly lower at 6 hr. and 12h in group A contrasted to group B (P
Conclusion: In LC, QLB with 30 ml of 0.25% of bupivacaine was more effective than 15 ml of 0.25% of bupivacaine which was evident by reducing pain score and total opioids consumption and delaying time to first rescue of analgesia with comparable adverse events.
